“While most travel occurs in urban areas, there are more fatalities in rural areas,” said Thomas A. Horan, research director at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Excellence in Rural Safety.
The center recently updated its national Web site, SafeRoadMaps.org, to improve identification of rural areas with the most driving fatalities.
